Gleaning on the Threasing Floor of Grace: The More We Glean the Word of God, The More We See the God of the Word.

As you look at the image above, I want you to place yourself in this scene… the posture of gleaning is humility and surrender. Those who engaged in gleaning often did so out of necessity. They recognized their own need and vulnerability, which required them to humble themselves to gather leftover crops from the fields. This act of humility acknowledges dependence on the provision of others and ultimately on God.

 Philippians 2:3-4

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

This verse emphasizes the importance of humility in relationships with others. It encourages believers to prioritize the needs and interests of others above their own, demonstrating a humble attitude that seeks to serve and uplift others rather than seeking personal gain or recognition. Gleaning requires a surrender to the provision that God has ordained. It involves trusting in God's provision rather than relying solely on one's own efforts or resources. Those who engaged in gleaning submitted themselves to this system, recognizing their place within it and accepting their role in society. The Lord remains faithful to provide for His people. Gleaning illustrates the principle of God's abundant provision and his desire for all people to have their needs met. The echo in God's own generosity towards humanity. It reminds us that God is not only generous in providing for our needs but also calls us to emulate his generosity in our dealings with others.

Prayer Point:

Open my ear to your voice and allow my spirit to recognize the tone of your sound. So that I will not self-sabotage when you come and bring your best into my life. Lord help me be humble and not go before your Will or your ways. Do not allow me to choose my fear but instead allow me to surrender to your Word, Truth, and Spirit.
