The Trauma Reflection: Fought with Stillness

Trauma can become an avalanche of issues, leading us to find distractions to occupy the pain. I know that the cycles of external drama in life can try to push one to want to move on impulse to be rescued from the dysfunction. This can look like; looking for a relationship, binge-watching a new show, or any life-altering decisions made quickly. In reality, these things can be buffers for the true fact that amid the pain, the importance of being still may provide more answers than we realize.

Mark 4:39

And he arose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm

As this verse shows, Jesus rebukes the wind and called upon peace to rise in the storm. The circumstance had to obey the authority of Jesus speaking! How much more is Jesus doing this in our lives. Be still in Jesus and remind yourself that he is in control.

Are you able to trust in the power of Jesus to calm the storms in your life?
