Let God Work in Me: Stepping Outside of Myself

Hebrews 12:1–3 (NKJV)

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith… lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

Learning to Step Outside of Myself

There are moments when I realize I’ve been carrying things God never asked me to hold. Worry. Fear. Control. The need to fix everything on my own.

Hebrews reminds us to lay aside every weight—not just sin, but anything that slows us down or keeps us from trusting God fully. Sometimes the heaviest weight is us: our thoughts, our fears, and our attempts to do what only God can do.

I’ve had to come to a place of honesty and say the following:

Father, I repent for magnifying my problems above Your name.

When my focus shifts from God’s power to my problems, I become weary. But when I look to Jesus, I remember that endurance comes from trusting Him, not from striving harder.

When Surrender Feels Difficult

Surrender sounds simple, but it is not always easy. Letting go means releasing control. It means admitting that God’s timing and process may not match my feelings.

There are days I don’t feel whole. Some days I feel tired, discouraged, or uncertain. Yet truth remains the same even when feelings change.

I am the daughter of the King. And He is daily making me whole — even when I don’t feel whole.

God’s work in us continues quietly, patiently, faithfully.

Stepping Back So God Can Step In

Sometimes my prayer is simple:

Lord, take me out of the way.
Stop me from trying to stop what You are doing in my life.

Stepping back means trusting that God is already moving. It means choosing faith over fear and obedience over control. It means allowing Him to lead the race instead of running ahead of Him.

Surrender All!

Surrender is not giving up — it is giving over.
It is laying down the weight and trusting the One who already finished the work.

When we consider what Christ endured, we are reminded that endurance is possible. We don’t run alone. We run with purpose, with hope, and with grace sustaining us.

Reflection: How Can I Stop and Let God Move?

  • Am I holding onto something God is asking me to release?

  • Have I allowed my problems to become bigger than my faith?

  • What would it look like today to step back and trust God fully?

Sometimes “letting God work” begins with stillness, prayer, and surrender — choosing daily to trust that He is completing what He started in us.
